Vehicle thefts on the rise in Sierra Vista, police say

SIERRA VISTA - The amount of vehicle-burglaries has increased since November last year.

Since November 2011 the Sierra Vista Police Department has seen a 100 percent increase in the amount of vehicle burglaries. According to a press release from the Sierra Vista Police Department, the majority of the robberies occur at places with a large vehicle concentration, such as shopping centers and apartment complexes.

According to police reports, most robberies occurred to vehicles left unlocked and with items in plain view.

It is advised that motorists call the police and report people wandering around a parking lot looking into multiple vehicles.
