VAIL, Ariz. - During the current economic downturn, many small businesses are experiencing financial difficulties. A group of Vail residents is using community involvement to support the businesses and organizations that serve the Vail community and southeast Tucson.
Vail Community Celebration Day will be held on Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Cienega High School parking lot, 12775 East Mary Ann Cleveland Way.
Businesses and community organizations are offered free booth space to promote their goods and services to Vail residents. Entertainment, including the Cienega Rotary's "cow pie bingo" contest, refreshments, children's activities and prizes will be provided at this free event.
Funding for Vail Community Celebration Day is provided by a grant from PRO Neighborhoods, with additional support from Vail Community School District 20, Community Action Board, Vail Chamber of Commerce and SouthEastSide Connections.
The PRO Neighborhoods grant also will fund the development of a printed Resource Guide listing businesses, services and organizations that serve the greater Vail area. An electronic version of the guide will be produced and then promoted on a variety of linked websites.
Cienega High School students have designed fliers, posters and banners to promote the celebration and are developing the printed and electronic versions of the Resource Guide.
Businesses and organizations interested in exhibiting at Vail Celebration Day or being included in the Resource Guide should send an email to mariannewburns@cox.net or call Elaine Smith at 520.398.5857.
