TUCSON - After a weekend off, Monsoon 2014 returns to the Sonoran Desert.
A low pressure trough over Nevada draws in tropical moisture from Hurricane Marie, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Scattered storms are possible this afternoon, especially south & east of Tucson. Expect storm chances to continue into the overnight hours.
Main storm threats today include gusty winds over 40 MPH and locally heavy rainfall.
Tomorrow looks to be the most active day of the week for the Monsoon. Scattered to numerous storms are expected area-wide, with flash flooding the primary concern. Drier air slides in by mid-week as the trough passes north. As a result, storm chances cease by Thursday as temperatures close in on the 100's.
