PHOENIX (AP) - Police say a 32-year-old man who was shooting up a Phoenix neighborhood has been killed by officers.
Spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson says officers were called to the home around midnight Friday for a reported suicidal person but found nothing. When they returned a short while later, the man began shooting.
The officers and the suspect's girlfriend who had been in the home took cover outside.
Police say Jesus Antonio Torres probably fired about 100 shots using both an assault rifle and a pistol and his gunfire hit six houses, before he was killed after going out the front door and shooting.
He was reportedly depressed over child custody issues.
Thompson says nine officers returned fire and one of them had minor injuries to a hand.
