TUCSON - A 39-year-old man died in a crash overnight on eastbound I-10, near the Tangerine exit. The man was the driver of the SUV. Department of Public Safety Officers say he lost control of his vehicle on westbound I-10, rolled and ended up on the eastbound side.
A passenger got out of the vehicle to help the driver when the SUV was struck by a truck tractor pulling a semi-trailer. During this time, the passenger that was standing alongside the SUV was struck by the rotation of the SUV.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased on scene by Northwest Fire.
A passenger of the SUV was airlifted to UMC Main Hospital and is in critical condition.
A second passenger of the SUV was transported by Avra Valley Fire to UMC Main Hospital; he is in stable condition.
The driver of the commercial truck was not injured.
