(NBC NEWS) - A lot of people are thinking about Halloween more than Election Day right now, and one increasingly popular way to predict the outcome of the presidential race: Halloween masks.

This will be the fifth presidential election where Spirit Halloween stores nationwide are tracking sales of the candidates' masks.

The candidate whose mask sold the best won the election the past five election years, going back to 1996.

Currently President Barack Obama is leading Republican candidate Mitt Romney 60 percent to 40 percent.
