TUCSON - Shops all around town, especially near the University of Arizona are looking forward to the wave of visitors brought in by this weekend's Homecoming festivities.
Some areas along University Blvd. have been plagued by street car construction, but hope to cash-in on some extra foot traffic brought in by the students, family, friends and alumni who made their way back to the Old Pueblo for Homecoming.
This weekend is one of the busier weekends for business on University, as shops prepared for the surge weeks in advance.
"We make sure we have a very full staff, we're very full staffed for these weekends and make sure we have all of our newest stuff and it's very well stocked," said Ella Moore, manager of the UA-themed store ‘Campus Athletic.'
"It's definitely one of our busiest times of the year so we definitely appreciate the business, that's for sure," Moore told News 4 Tucson.
That extra business is something shop owners in the area are hoping will help make up for the loss of revenue caused by street closures and prolonged construction.
