TUCSON - The University of Arizona Medical Center - University Campus has been ranked among the nation's best hospitals.
U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals list of 2012-2013 ranked The University of Arizona Medical Center 33 out of 5,000 U.S. hospitals for geriatrics, the medical specialty associated with the care of older adults. Only hospitals ranked among the top 50 in one or more of 16 specialties measured by the magazine are considered "Best Hospitals."
"We are excited to receive this national recognition of our expertise," said Thomas Boyer, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine in the UA College of Medicine. "The growing numbers of seniors in our community benefit from the excellent geriatric care we provide, and we look forward to expanding our capabilities further with an Acute Care of Elders (ACE) Unit and Senior Emergency Room Programs in the coming year."
