TUCSON - The University of Arizona could ban smoking campus-wide if some students get their way.
Members of the Student Health Advocacy Committee have started a petition to get the school to go tobacco free.
They say they want to eliminate secondhand-smoke on campus while also promoting better lifestyle choices. Last week, Arizona State University approved a campus-wide ban on smoking that will take effect next August.
The UA petition has nearly 300 signatures right now. They hope to collect thousands more.
Organizers hope to eventually get President Ann Weaver Hart to implement it.
