TUCSON- University of Arizona President Robert Shelton will deliver his State of the University address to Maricopa County alumni, donors, public officials and supporters at a noon luncheon on March 3 in downtown Phoenix.

Shelton will address the University's presence and future in Maricopa County, as well as the overall direction of the University. He will be introduced by Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon.

For several years, Shelton has delivered an annual State of the University address on the UA campus in Tucson, and this marks the first time the event takes place in Phoenix.

During his 2009 State of the University address, Shelton spoke about budget reductions the UA has and will continue to face while also speaking to ways in which the University community is acting in creative ways to counter economic concerns.

Shelton also noted ways in which the UA and its supporters have been especially creative, also spotlighting some of the institution's accomplishments.

Individuals interested in attending can register online before Feb. 26 at arizonaalumni.com.
