As students return for another year at the University of Arizona, campus police is gearing up for enhanced patrol targeting violations of alcohols laws.
The University of Arizona Police Department is deploying an increased number of patrol officers in an effort to curb alcohol violations.
The move is a result of additional funding provided by a grant from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
"On any given night we're going to have five to ten officers out on patrol," said Officer Joe Bermudez of the UAPD. "These grants give us the ability to beef up those numbers a little bit.
The effort is intended to improve community safety through enhancing enforcement of the laws and making alcohol and traffic safety information readily available.
