HOLLYWOOD - Tucson-area fans have high expectations for Coach Rich Rodriguez and the 2014 Arizona football team. However, for the Pac-12 media that covers the Cats -different story. U of A was predicted to come in 4th place out of 6 teams in the Pac-12 South in today's preseason media poll.
The poll was released on Day 1 of Pac-12 Media Day. UCLA is favored to win the Pac-12 South, followed by USC and ASU. U of A, Utah & Colorado round out the bottom of the division.
UCLA also received 37 of 39 first-place votes to win the South Division, along with 13 votes for a title-game victory.
In the Pac-12 North, the Ducks had the biggest "quack". Oregon has been picked to win the Pac-12 football title in a preseason media poll for the fourth time in the past five years.
The Ducks are the media's favorite for the third straight season, getting 37 of 39 first-place votes in the North Division balloting. Oregon also received 24 votes to win the league title game in Santa Clara, Calif., on Dec. 5.
Coach Rich Rodriguez is hoping to surprise the West Coast, and national media, and take the Wildcats to the U of A's first-ever Rose Bowl.
