MARICOPA COUNTY - The identity of the two people found dead Thursday in the backyard of a Sun City home have been identified.
Mary Ann Higley, 77, and Harold W. Dailey, 83, were found dead in their backyard by neighbors who noticed a foul odor coming from the home, said sheriff's spokesman Officer Chris Hegstrom.
Neighbors called investigators to the Sun City home, in the 19000 block of Sombrero Circle, on Thursday, and sheriff's homicide detectives were among those dispatched to the scene.
By the end of the day, a sheriff's spokesman said that investigators believed that Higley and Dailey had died of natural causes but that the Maricopa County Medical Examiner will make the final determination about the cause and manner of their deaths.
Detectives think Higley and Dailey may have been dead since last weekend, but why they were in the backyard is still unknown, Hegstrom said in a statement.
