Two mountain lions killed after Big Horn Sheep found dead

TUCSON - Two mountain lions have been killed after bighorn Sheep were found dead.

Arizona Game and Fish tells News 4 Tucson an officer was on a trail Saturday on Mt. Lemmon investigating a mortality signal.

When he was adjusting equipment, he saw a mountain lion in a predatory stance.

AZ Game and Fish said he feared for his life, so he shot the mountain lion.

A dead ewe was found 1 /2 mile from Kachina trail.

AZ Game and Fish said the mountain lion had sheep parts inside his stomach.

On Sunday afternoon, a dead ewe was found 1/2 mile southwest of Montrose Pools.

A mountain lion was tracked Monday morning nearby and killed.

Arizona Game and Fish tells News 4 Tucson, the mountain lion had sheep fur in his claws and mouth and bighorn sheep parts inside his stomach.

The death of the ram found Wednesday along the edge of Sutherlan Ridge east of Romero Canyon is still under investigation.

Arizona Game and Fish tells News 4 Tucson, the soonest they can get the results of the toxicology report will be Friday.
