TUCSON - Three open houses are coming up for the next phase of the School Master Plan process in the Tucson Unified School District.
The public is invited to attend the open houses to give their feedback on several academic achievement and budgeting scenarios that have arisen through input from the August town halls and September focus groups.
The district is challenged with finding solutions to develop high performing classrooms in all schools while facing a significant budget shortfall projected for the 2013-2014 school year. Several scenarios to trim the budget have arisen through the process including consolidating schools and reducing administrative costs. The open houses will allow the public to examine each scenario at a series of information tables and offer input on their preferred scenarios for resolving the budget deficit. At the end of the process, the TUSD Governing Board will make its decision on the budget and how the district will be funded going forward.
Details on the entire School Master Plan process, including information on the district budget, survey results and videos of the town halls, as well as comment forms and answers to questions from the public, are available online at: www.tusd1.org/SchoolMasterPlan.
