Tucsonans and UA students can get free bike helmets, lights and locks

TUCSON - Now that the Modern Steetcar tracks have been installed into the pavement on and around the University of Arizona campus, Pima County wants to make sure bicyclists know how to maneuver around them properly and safely. The tracks have been installed on 2nd Street and portions of 4th Avenue and University Boulevard.

Every week in September, Pima County staff will offer a free one-hour bike ride. Also those who sign up for the ride can choose from a free helmet, bicycle lights, or U-lock.

"We're leading these rides so students can see how bike riding can be fun and safe at the same time," says Matt Zoll, Pima County Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Manager. "We'll ride around campus and on city streets near campus to places where students want to go."

The rides will take place:
September 4, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
September 13, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
September 19, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
September 25, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Sign up and get more information at or by calling 243-BIKE (2453).
