TUCSON - The woman accused of causing a suspicious bag scare in midtown last month has been indicted on one count of creating a hoax.
Esther Bergin, 46, was arrested on April 26 and charged with the class 4 felony.
Bergin left behind an unattended, suspicious backpack near Speedway and Country Club. The incident caused evacuations at a nearby school and behavioral health center, Tucson Police said.
She later called 911 to report the bag, saying it could be bomb, Tucson Police Department spokesman Sgt. Chris Widmer said.
The backpack was found to be full of clothes.
