TUCSON - Tucson Police have identified the person of interest in the hit and run that critically injured a toddler Monday night.
Officials say they know the driver of the white van that they say hit a parked car, causing it to hit and injure a 2-year-old girl.
Police say the girl is still in critical condition. They say they will not release the information on the person of interest until they obtain a warrant. Then, they hope the public can help them locate him.
"Either way it's a hit and run. You can't hit a vehicle and then leave the scene. And certainly when there's injuries now, it's now a felony. So we're now looking at other charges, but you can't just hit any vehicle and leave the scene," Sergeant Diana Lopez with TPD said.
Tucson Police expect to release the man's identity Wednesday.
