(Tucson) - The internet crimes against children's unit at the Tucson police department works to catch internet predators before they strike.
News 4 wanted to find out how the unit works - so our cameras went along for some of the arrests.
Their target this time out: Bryan George.
"He believes he's going to be meeting a 14 year old girl for sex." That's what Sgt. Tony Sabori is telling his unit. He's also briefing the U-S Marshals.
Sgt. Sabori says, "These are life changing events for these guys, we don't know how to they are going to react so officer's safety is a must."
The suspected predator thought he met a 14 year old girl online, instead he was chatting with Det. Dan Barry, who was posing as the teenager. He's one of two investigators who sit in a secure room within the Tucson Police Department.
Right above them the wall of shame; pictures of people they've arrested and kept from preying on Tucson's teenagers.
Lt. Bob Wilson heads the unit, he says "The sad part about it, it's so easy for us to catch somebody. You know it's going on out there when we're not working you know it's going on out there as we're sitting here talking."
The unit is in place, some of the officers are doing surveillance and report the target is southbound from Pantano and Speedway.
As the officers wait, George texts what he believes is a 14 year old girl what he is wearing.
Sgt. Sabori spots him, and gives the go ahead to arrest him.
The U-S Marshal's team swoops in for the arrest.
During the pat down they find condoms.
Tucson police will go to the suspect's house and do a search warrant. They'll be seizing his computer.
Lt. Wilson says "One more, at least he's not out there luring a real kid. I don't think he'll be doing this again for awhile."
George has been charged with luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
