Tucson OIympian to attend Aquatic Center grand opening

ORO VALLEY - A community pool party on Friday to celebrate the newly renovated Oro Valley Aquatic Center will feature a special appearance by a local Olympian.

Festivities start at 5:00 p.m. on March 15 and will include free admission, giveaways, games, prize drawings, music and the Tucson Food Truck Roundup. The first 100 guests will also receive a free Oro Valley Aquatic Center tote bag and rubber ducky.

Raffle ticket drawings will be held throughout the evening for free family day passes to the Aquatic Center. Everyone will receive one raffle ticket upon arrival and guests wearing the Aquatic Center's colors, blue and orange, will receive a bonus raffle ticket. Additional tickets can be obtained by signing up for email notifications.

Lacey Nymeyer John, member of the US 4x1 freestyle relay team which took silver in the Beijing Olympics, will also be in attendance and available to take pictures with community members.

"It's going to be a party, and we hope to see community members of all ages out there, enjoying this beautiful, new facility," said Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath.

"This event is not only a celebration of the successful completion of this project, it's also a celebration of our community. Bloomberg Newsweek named Oro Valley the best place to raise kids in Arizona, and this is one of the reasons why. We work hard to provide family-friendly amenities and programs and we're excited about this latest addition," added Hiremath.
