TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona redshirt senior safety Jared Tevis has been named to the 2014 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, it was announced on Thursday. Now in its 11th year, the Lott IMPACT Trophy goes to the college football defensive player who has the biggest IMPACT on his team both on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
A Tucson native and Canyon del Oro graduate, Tevis is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection and a two-time All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honoree. He totals 177 tackles, three interceptions and seven forced fumbles in three seasons of participation.
In 2013, he started and played 11 games while earning Pac-12 First-Team All-Academic and All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honors. He was No. 3 on the squad in total tackles with 83, including four for a loss of 11 yards and a sack. He had one interception in Arizona's AdvoCare V100 Bowl vs. Boston College and also forced three fumbles during the season.
He'll graduate this weekend with a degree in finance and has been accepted to Arizona's Eller College of Management for graduate school. Tevis has also served nearly 20 hours of community service while reaching nearly 2,000 people in his time as a Wildcat.
The winner will be announced at the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy Banquet Dec. 14 at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach.
