TUCSON - A $250 investment turned into more than half a million dollars in cash and a luxury car.
A Tucson man bought three tickets to Tucson Medical Center's Mega Raffle, and he now has more money than he knows what to do with.
Michael Martin was about to meet with a real estate agent looking to downsize from his four bedroom home, when he got the call about his big prize.
"I was going to get maybe a condo or a two bedroom home or something like that," said Martin.
But he cancelled when he got the call.
"Unless someone is joking with me I think I just won a house," said Martin.
He did win a house as part of the Tucson Medical Center's Mega Raffle Grand prize, but after taking a tour of the new home on the Northwest side, Martin decided it was too far from his job at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Martin is with the Air National Guard, and his current home is just about ten minutes from DM.
TMC offered cash instead of the home, and he couldn't pass up the $576,000, plus a Mercedes luxury car.
"It's slowly starting to sink in completely," said Martin.
His family from Arkansas is excited for him.
His dad offered to take the Mercedes sports car.
"He was willing to take it off my hands if that was the car I was willing to get," said Martin.
But Martin decided to swap that out too for an SUV more his style.
"The good thing about SUV's are you can just hook up your trailer hitch or bike hitch and you can put your mountain bike on it. I don't think the convertible came with any type of hitch package," said Martin.
He should be getting his new SUV in the next couple of days.
"I'm pretty blessed," said Martin.
As for the money, Martin said he'll spend about ten percent of that money and then meet with a financial advisor to see where to invest the rest of the money.
