TUCSON - The Fox Theatre hosted a benefit concert for the families of the 19 men killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire near Prescott.
It was organized by Robert Shaw's Lonely Street Productions. He was also one of the performers Sunday night.
"I turned on my phone, and I saw that piece of news, and it just hits you in your gut," Shaw said. "So that's why we're here, and we're going to do everything we can to help."
The artists were not paid and the theatre was donated.
Ken Unwin went to the show not knowing much about the performers.
"Our son's a fireman in town," he said, "and we know how dangerous a job it is. So we just thought we would come and listen to some good music and support the firefighters' families."
Lois Holbrook has seen Shaw perform.
"He does it right," she said, "and coming from that era, I just love the songs."
About 270 people attended, raising more than $6,400.
Shaw wants to do another benefit in Prescott but wants to wait until later, considering what the town is going through.
