TUCSON - A house fire on the east side forced residents from their home for a few hours, Thursday night.
According to the Tucson Fire Department, residents living on Swan Road, just south of Broadway Boulevard, called 911 at around 10 p.m. after smelling smoke and finding flames on the home's roof.
Firefighters kept the flames from spreading into the attic. They shut off the home's utilities and had the fire under control in about 12 minutes. A total of 23 firefighters from nine units responded.
Residents had safely evacuated and were allowed back inside a few hours later. The fire did about $5,000 in damage. The cause is under investigation.
