TUCSON - Tucson Fire worked fast to contain an apartment fire Tuesday evening.
The first unit arrived within five minutes and reported smoke coming from a third floor apartment. They pulled hose lines up to the third floor and made entry to check for occupants and put out the fire.
The room with the fire involvement was the end unit and was being used as a storage room for residents of the third floor to store their belongings. The fire did not spread to the neighboring apartment though firefighters did force entry to make sure no one was inside.
It took 12 units and 32 firefighters nine minutes to bring the fire under control.
There were no injuries to firefighters and Red Cross was not needed. One person on scene attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher prior to the arrival of TFD units. He was assessed on scene by paramedics but didn't require further medical care.
