TUCSON - Over 400 authors from around the world will be attending the second annual Tucson Festival of Books.
According to the festivals founders, around 50,000 people showed up last year and over $200,000 dollars was raised for literacy.
"I was surprised it was a my first book festival last year and i was surprised at the corwds at the mix of people in atttendance and how wonderful it was," said David Fitzsimmons.
This year the crowds are expected to hit 80,000 people, meaning more money will be pumped into the local economy.
"Anytime you bring that amount of people to a given area in Tucson its going to greatly increase the business. I'm figuring we will be up about double what we would normally do on a Saturday and Sunday," said Grimaldi's General Manager, Jeffrey Spear.
Looking ahead, there's hope the Tucson Festival of Books will build more momentum. Hopefully drawing in more people and more money.
"This festival is a wonderful cause worth supporting and its worth attending time and time again,"said Fitzsimmons.
