Tucson man dies after struggle with police

UPDATE - Tucson Police continue their investigation to the circumstances surrounding the in-custody death of a Tucson man.
Just after midnight, police responded to a domestic violence call in the 3400 block of South Sarnoff Dr.
Police say when the arrived, they tried to arrest 31-year-old Shon W. Garrett for physically assaulting his live-in girlfriend. In the process, Garrett got a kitchen knife. Police say he resisted arrest and fought with police. Police were able to take Garrett into custody with pepper spray and their batons.
Tucson Fire checked Garrett's injuries. A short time later, police say, he became unresponsive and officers began administering CPR. He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead after arrival.
Police say a department Board of Inquiry will review the investigation, which is standard procedure in this type of investigation.

Tucson police are investigating the death of a man this morning in the 3400 block of S. Sarnoff.
According to police, they originally were called to the residence for a dispute.
When they arrived, the man fought with officers, and was detained.
While detained the man started showing signs of distress.
Police immediately tried to help the man, and took him to a hospital, where he later died.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene, which TPD says is routine.
