TUCSON - As tax day approaches, the Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona is warning Tucsonans to be on the lookout for scam e-mails that appear to be from the IRS.
On the BBB of Southern Arizona's Facebook page, they have posted an example of a scam e-mail claiming that the recipient is eligible for a tax refund. The e-mail includes a link at the bottom.
"Don't click on any links and do not reply with any personal information. Contact the IRS directly if you have any questions," states the Tucson branch of the BBB.
The IRS website confirms that they do not initiate contact with taxpayers by e-mail or any social media tools to request personal or financial information.
The site also provides a detailed breakdown of what to do when you've received an unsolicited e-mail, phone fall, fax, or letter.
