TUCSON - A new stretch of triple digits starts today.
We only topped out at 99 on Sunday ending a streak of six straight days above the 100 mark, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. The triple digits return, however, to start the work week with a forecast high of 101 for Monday. Today will be the 18th day this year above the century mark with even more triple digits on the way.
Throughout the rest of the week high pressure continues to build over southern Arizona with a continued warming trend. We'll be flirting with heat advisory criteria by Wednesday with daytime highs climbing to near 105. Make sure to drink plenty of water and limit the daytime activity this week.
A slight "cool" down is expected for Father's Day weekend with highs coming down into the low triple digits, pretty close to average for this time of year. As an upper level low tries to set up over the west coast for the upcoming weekend we could see the winds kick up as well.
