Traffic stop spins into pro-immigration demonstration

TUCSON - More than 100 people gathered around the scene of a traffic stop when police pulled over two undocumented immigrants Tuesday night, according to Tucson Police.

Here's YouTube video of protestors surrounding the Border Patrol vehicle:

Police pulled over a car near 22nd Street and 10th Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. and called Border Patrol when they learned the driver and passenger were in the country illegally. More than 100 people began gathering around the scene, said Sgt. Maria Hawke.

Police used pepper spray against some demonstrators they say behaved aggressively toward law enforcement, but no one was seriously injured, said Hawke. It's unclear if police made any arrests.

Border Patrol agents took the driver and passenger into custody.

The local immigrant advocacy group, "No More Borders" is holding a news conference at 12 p.m. on Wednesday demanding either a change in TPD policy or the resignation of Police Chief Roberto Villasenor.
