TUCSON - Tucson Police Department Bomb Squad and SWAT officers have a south side restaurant surrounded and are attempting to arrest a man they say is wanted in connection with a shooting.
Detectives went to a restaurant, located in the 4500 block of South 12th Avenue, between Ajo and Irvington Roads, at 10:30 Wednesday morning in order to arrest the suspect, according to Tucson Police Department spokesman Sgt. Chris Widmer said.
After speaking with restaurant employees, detectives had reason to believe the suspect was hiding in the back of the restaurant, Widmer said.
The SWAT team, Bomb Squad, and a hostage negotiator are all at the scene, as the suspect is considered dangerous, Widmer added.
TPD has closed 12th Avenue in both directions at Ohio Street and urge motorists to avoid the area.
News 4 Tucson has a crew headed to the scene and will provide updates as they become available.
