TUCSON - A man was fatally shot just before midnight in a neighborhood near Irvington and Tucson.
A call to 911 was made just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday about a person who was possibly shot in the 5200 Block of South Placita Brisa Grande, Tucson Police spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan said in a release.
Officers arrived on scene and found 21-year-old Martin Jesus Echeverria-Garcia laying on the ground with gunshot trauma, Dugan said. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
A neighbor told police he saw another man with Echeverria-Garcia before officer arrived. The neighbor said that man left in a gold 4-door Toyota Camry or something similar, Dugan said.
Detectives believe the shooting happened at another location, Dugan said. Anyone with information is being asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
Echeverria-Garcia's death marks Tucson's ninth homicide this year.
