TUCSON - What began as a fight Tuesday morning on the city's eastside turned into a shooting and ended with one man dead.
Police identified the victim as Paul David Lauderdale. So far there have been no arrests.
Tucson police spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan said one man fired several shots and one struck the 32-year-old Lauderdale.
He collapsed in a parking lot next to a daycare center. Thomas Scott had to go underneath crime tape to drop off his son.
"So close to my son's school, definitely frightening definitely."
One man who asked not to be identified was across the street taking pictures of a business when he says he heard six gun shots.
"Gunshots went off I hit the ground, stood up and saw a white male running, and a black male falling to the ground."
He chased after the white male, but when the other man collapsed, "Two other men were there helping me trying to keep him alive. We did everything we could for him."
Paul David Lauderdale died in his arms.
