TUCSON- Tucson Police discovered a large marijuana growing operation on the southside Thursday afternoon, after officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana.
According to TPD Sergeant Chris Widmer, officers were on routine patrol near South 6th Avenue and West 35th Street around 5:30, when they smelled the fresh marijuana.
TPD's Community Response Team tracked the marijuana to a warehouse, that was also a residence.
Detectives from the Counter Narcotics Alliance obtained a search warrant for the property.
Detectives located 365 marijuana plants and over 53 pounds of hydroponic marijuana inside the warehouse and residence.
Police also located a large amount of marijuana growing equipment, along with $18,000 in cash.
No one was home when the warrant was served.
Widmer says police are still trying to find the resident of the property.
