A team of Tucson police officers just wrapped a special operation, in an area heavy with violent crime.
It's in the Midtown division, in the area to the East of Doolen and Fruitvale, to the West, Dodge and Flower.
In the last 3-weeks, Tucson Police says there's been as much crime, in the area, as there is in an entire year.
60 officers deployed to the area, some going door to door, others getting information and inputting it into a computer.
Capt. Dave Neri says "It's a very necessary intervention we're going to do for these neighborhoods. It's a serious concern for the citizens, their quality of life and serious concern for us."
The officers aren't only gathering information but acting immediately on leads they're getting.
One homeowner claims he saw a drug deal go down in broad daylight; a Community Response Team took his information.
"I was standing in my driveway saw an African American guy walk up to the car leans up on the car reaches gets something out of his pocket kind of discreet."
Emma Graham, a neighbor says this special operation is making her feel safer. "To know there are people out and about it eases my mind a little bit."
The neighborhood association has been working with Tucson police to bring property crime rates down.
That's why she's thankful for this operation.
"I am so impressed and so grateful to them for this to Capt. Neri especially, he's responding with such force."
The midtown operation continues, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 and maybe Thursday too.
If you're wondering whether the city's being properly patrolled during this special deployment?
Tucson Police officials say it is.
