TUCSON - The Downtown Tucson Partnership won the 2012 Metropolitan Pima Alliance "Common Ground" Award for the Toole Avenue Rehab Project in a ceremony last Friday.
The Toole Avenue Rehab Project mobilized over 120 volunteers to landscape and beautify Toole Avenue in the Historic Warehouse Arts District, in addition to raising over $100,000 in cash and contributions.
The MPA's Common Ground Award recognizes community leaders, projects and events with successful collaboration for the overall benefit of the community.
"We as a community needed to celebrate our arts district," said Michael Keith, CEO of the Downtown Tucson Partnership.
The project made the street more inviting to people coming to experience the arts, Keith said.
