TUCSON - Titanic: The Exhibition is set to launch at the Rialto building downtown this Saturday.
The exhibition, which will replace the long-running show Bodies, will feature 127 artifacts from the Titanic, the ill-fated ship that claimed more than 1,500 lives after colliding with an iceberg on April 15, 1912.
A representative from Premier Exhibitions says the artifacts were recovered during eight expeditions conducted by RMS Titanic, Inc., a company granted exclusive rights to explore and recover artifacts from the wreck site by the government in 1994.
The spokesperson says visitors will be transported back to 1912, complete with a replica boarding pass of a passenger aboard the Titanic. Artifacts in the exhibition, including four that have never before been on public display, will tell the human stories of those aboard "the world's biggest ship."
The limited engagement begins on Oct. 23, at The Rialto Building, 300 E. Congress St., across from the Hotel Congress.
Tickets are available at the box office and online at www.TitanicTucson.com.
