Three Downtown buildings getting a Facade-lift

TUCSON - As in years past, three Downtown buildings are getting a makeover, thanks to the Downtown Façade Improvement Program.

The three winners of the program were announced today - the business-owners will contribute 50 percent of the funds for the major and minor renovations to their front facades, with the Downtown Tucson Partnership donating a grant for the other half.

According to a release from the Downtown Tucson Partnership, the three awardees this year are:

- Shoe City Building, 37 E. Pennington St.
- City High School.
- Chicago Store, 130 E. Congress St.

The front façades of these three buildings will be restored and preserved, due to their historical importance, the release states.

The goal of this project is to improve the Downtown streetscapes, revitalize Downtown, assist in the preservation of historical Downtown buildings, improve the appearance of Downtown streetscapes, and encourage existing tenants to remain Downtown.
