BOURNE, MASS - Kevin Newman, Bobby Dalbec and Nathan Bannister have made the Cape Cod Baseball League's All-Star Game, the University of Arizona announced on Saturday. The three athletes will represent their summer league teams on Sunday, July 27th.
This is the second consecutive year Newman has made the All-Star team. The Falmouth Commodores short stop was named a starter in this year's tilt. Newman leads the league in batting average with a .387 mark. Last year, he was the first freshman to ever lead the league in batting average at .375. He has 14 RBI's and 11 runs through his 19 games this summer.
Newman could face Bannister in the All-Star Game as the righty was a reserve selection for the East Team. Bannister is 3-0 this summer with 19 strikeouts in 24 innings of work.
Dalbec participated in the College Home Run Derby earlier this summer and teams with Bannister on the Orleans Firebirds. He has three home runs and 13 RBI's this summer.
Bannister and Dalbec have led the Firebirds to first place in the East Division with a 19-11-1 record. Newman's Commodores are second in the West with a mark of 17-13-1.
