TUCSON- Roughly 49,000 students have enrolled at Tucson Unified School District this year, but some of those students may be greeted by substitute teachers on their first day of school.
TUSD is looking to hire roughly 127 new teachers to fill vacancies.
TUSD hosted a job fair over the weekend for teachers in the hopes of filling the spots before today. Areas of concentration range from math and science, grades elementary through high school.
The district has been hiring since late April, after the district's move to reduce class sizes created more of a demand for teachers.
