Thousands of children take part in Miracle On 31st Street event

Tucson- A tradition that has gone on every Christmas here in Tucson for over 40 years took place once again today.

The Miracle On 31st Street is an annual celebration to benefit some of Tucson's most disadvantaged children.

It all began 42 years ago when Ramon Gonzales, a retired sheet metal worker, used his own money to host a Christmas Eve party for kids on his street. The event has continued to grow and Gonzalez still helps to organize the event every year.

This year the event took place at Casino Del Sol's Ava Outdoor Theatre and hosted thousands of children.

The simple purpose of the event, to bring joy to the children

Miracle On 31st Street has no paid staff and depends entirely on over 100 community volunteers to put on the event every year.

All donations go directly to the children. For more information on how you can be a part of next year's event contact Ramon Gonzalez, at ramonsmiracle@gmail com or call (520) 883-5805.
