TUCSON - Thousands of University of Arizona students and alumni went to campus for homecoming events Friday.

"You can just feel everyone's pride for being U of A alumni," student, Jennifer Harr said, "and it's just fun to be around all the red and blue."

Wildcat football seniors and Coach Rich Rodriguez appeared in front of a crowd at the annual bonfire in front of Old Main.

About 20 U of A rugby players stacked wood pallets for the blaze. Tucson firefighters were ready in case anything went wrong.

Arizona football alum, John Vorsheck came from San Diego for the weekend. He says he usually goes to homecoming to see his old friends.

"They're still a bunch of knuckleheads," Vorsheck said, "but we have a good time when we see one another."

The football game is at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
