Opponents of expanding Medicaid, Arizona's health-insurance program for the poor, filed paperwork with the Secretary of State's Office this morning to refer the new law to the November 2014 ballot.
Governor Jan Brewer signed the Medicaid expansion legislation Monday, flanked by members of the bipartisan coalition that helped push it through the Legislature last week.
But opponents of the law vowed weeks ago to launch a petition to stop it.
The filing marks the latest chapter in a bitter battle that could end up in the courts.
