TUCSON - An artsy toy store was burglarized downtown, and a distinctive statue was snatched along with other pricy items in the process.
The store is hoping someone will recognize the merchandise so they can get it back.
Amy Delcastillo owns Lulubell Toy Bodega, and says early Monday morning when she walked in, she got quite a shock. "There was glass everywhere and I immediately just broke down crying."
Burglars hit her business Sunday night. Police say they threw a rock through the window to get in.
She worried about everything that might be gone, but the only other thing missing was a 3-foot-tall fiberglass statue.
Delcastillo said, "I think that was what they were after they had grabbed that taken it through the window."
Delcastillo says it's not just any big statue because they're very hard to come by.
"There's probably about 20 of those in the world so it's a really rare item," Delcastillo said.
All together about 50 items were taken, all for a total damage of about $5,000, and Delcastillo hopes the statue ends up back where it belongs.
She said, "The greatest thing would be to get it back, and the worst thing that could happen is for this to end up in a dumpster somewhere."
