TUCSON - If you go to LA Fitness in the Tucson area, even in Phoenix and Scottsdale, be on the lookout for a thief who rifles through lockers, stealing credit cards, and then goes on a shopping spree.
On December 30, 2012, detectives say the suspect obtained a membership to a local LA Fitness and when he got into the locker room, sometime before 10 a.m., he managed to steal two credit cards from a locker.
It didn't take him long to start using those cards. The first transaction was made at a local Starbuck's just 45 minutes later.
By the end of the day, 10 hours later, the thief had racked up more than $20,000 worth of credit card bills from a shopping spree that included electronics, jewelry and men's underwear at a local Macy's.
The investigation has produced information and leads, including video and photos of the suspect in action. He's described as a Caucasion man in his mid 40's, about 6' tall, weighing around 220 pounds, with short receding salt and pepper hair, and he speaks with what may be a Russian accent.
If you think you recognize this suspect or you have information on his whereabouts, you are urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME or Detective Laura Gil at 520-351-6634.
