TUCSON - The University of Arizona wants to follow a national trend, by becoming a smoke-free campus.
The new policy would prohibit smoking on university property.
Currently, smokers must stay 30 feet from a university building while smoking.
The senate has already voted to endorse the proposed policy, but the university is taking public comments until July 27.
University officials said they will look to see if they need to make changes before giving the policy to the university president for approval, which is expected in August.
