TUCSON - The monsoon hose has been shut off for most of Arizona today and the valve should remain tightly locked for the remainder of the work-week.
High pressure is oriented in a position where the moisture is favored well south and east of the region. With dry air in place, the mercury is on the rise and reaching triple digits in most of the warmest locations.
The area of high pressure is forecast to move closer to the Four Corners by Friday and especially into the weekend. This position will help usher in deeper monsoonal moisture for a better chance of weekend thunderstorms.
