The Deer Head Fire spread overnight

RINCON - The Deer Head Fire in the Rincon Mountains slowly spread overnight and has now burned 229 acres.

The fire was caused by lightning on July 24, but is not threatening any historical structures at this time.

Crews are working to maintain the fire and are preparing for a black burn operation on the north side of the fire.

Residents of Tucson, Vail and Benson may see an increase of smoke due to drier conditions.

Hikers and campers can expect closures in the area.
