TUCSON - A morning fire on the east side displaced a woman, her dog and cat.
Tucson Fire responded to the house fire in the 7200 block of East Freestone Drive just after 8:00 a.m. Units responded using the new PCWIN radio system within minutes that the system went live.
The first crew on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the front door. Firefighters entered the home and found a heavy amount of fire in the back bedroom. The crew cut two holes over the bedroom to alleviate the high temperatures and increase the visibility inside. When the fire was extinguished, the firefighters searched for the missing cat and dog. They were both found and saved.
Red Cross is helping the resident. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
