PHOENIX (AP) - A Tempe dispensary is offering to help a Mesa family planning to give medical marijuana to their 5-year-old son to treat his seizures.
Phoenix TV station KNXV (http://shar.es/zESDz) reports that Harvest of Tempe has offered to provide all the cannabis oil that Zander Welton will need.
The boy's parents say he had his first seizure when he was 9 months old and now has them weekly.
The parents connected with a naturopathic doctor and started the process to administer medical marijuana, which isn't covered by insurance.
The cannabis oil would have cost the Welton family about $300 a week out-of-pocket. They had been reaching out to friends and family for donations.
The Southwest Medical Marijuana Evaluation center will be monitoring Zander's progress and help guide his twice-a-day dosages.
